Journal

The Journal is the personal default Book for daily Notes, private observations, drafts, and recurring ideas. It follows the same validation, extraction, and security rules as any other Book; the only difference is that it is the workspace an operator lands in for their own writing rather than a separately authored title.

What lives in the Journal

• Notes you write directly, including drafts that stay out of retrieval until committed.
• Extracted evidence from your committed Notes, indexed for local retrieval.
• Candidate questions and answers generated from that evidence, with review state.
• Release metadata for the activated Journal release that Published chat pins.

Journal lifecycle

A Journal moves through the same explicit stages as any Book: draft and committed Notes, extraction, candidate generation, human validation, Preview, and immutable publication. Draft Notes never enter retrieval. Preview reflects current admissible working knowledge and is never production. Published chat pins one activated immutable release.

Keeping the Journal bounded

Close the Journal before backup or package export, and verify the destination signer classification after import. Derived indexes that were excluded from a package are rebuilt locally on import; the original encrypted content is never sent wholesale to a provider. Import and export remain available regardless of commercial state.

Boundaries to keep visible

Draft Notes never enter retrieval. Recommendations may explain Journal work but cannot validate, publish, activate, withdraw, or delete it. Only an explicit human action advances a candidate to validation, publication, or activation.
