Discovery

Discovery organizes a Book's admissible content into a navigable hierarchy without any provider. Hierarchical topics, representative labels, unclustered items, memberships, and typed edges are all computed locally from extracted evidence, so the structure is reproducible and private by default.

What Discovery produces

  • Versioned hierarchical topics — reproducible structure computed from current admissible content.
  • Representative labels — stable names for each topic and cluster.
  • Unclustered items — content that did not join a topic, kept visible rather than forced.
  • Memberships — which items belong to which topics.
  • Typed edges — explicit, provenance, manual, and similarity relationships between items and topics.

Operator authority and overrides

Operator decisions are durable across recomputation. Rename, pin, merge, split, hide, reorder, and manual-edge decisions survive an incremental recomputation or produce a visible replay conflict that the operator must resolve. A recomputation never silently discards operator authority.

Navigation surfaces

  • Radial navigation — two levels with weighted arcs, a center, and breadcrumbs.
  • Connections — stable seeded nodes that expose relationships without provider input.
  • List and tree views — the same evidence and navigation as the radial view, in equivalent detail.

Common 10,000-item views are designed to open within two seconds after indexing. No discovery operation changes validation or publication state.

Provider-free by design

Discovery runs entirely on local computation. It is not a provider feature, it never sends Book content to a model, and it remains available when no provider is configured.

Boundaries to keep visible

Discovery explains and organizes; it does not validate, publish, activate, withdraw, or delete content. It also does not resolve semantic ambiguity on its own — when admissible items with different vocalizations produce different meanings and the question does not resolve it, the answer remains I don't know.
